In this work I have been photographing my children with a sense of parental observer and interested bystander. As parent, I find it amazing how the light reveals in them a sense of generations and wisdom that confounds my core as I know them as my kids. As a bystander, I find myself enjoying the ambiguity of what they may be thinking or feeling at the moment I shoot, and see the power in their genuine expression. The images I have made explore a sense of narrative that leaves open the point at which you encounter the scene of the story. They begin to connect days to weeks, and fold over into what has become a few years of my kids growing up so quickly. This is why I have titled the series ‘Folded Open’.
More to come soon.
